Mindful Service

Dorothy Day said: "Whatever I had read as a child about the saints had thrilled me. I could see the nobility of giving one's life for the sick, the maimed, the leper.... But there was another question in my mind. Why was so much done in remedying the evil instead of avoiding it in the first place? ... Where were the saints to try to change the social order, not just to minister to the slaves, but to do away with slavery."

  1. Avoiding evil in the first place? Now that's a novel idea!

We still spend kajillions of dollars on high tech swords. The kingdom of God is here and now, but the multitudes cannot see.

Neither can many leaders who practice greedership and bleedership.

Do away with economic slavery, replace it with economic justice. With peace, violence disappears.

Beat our high tech swords into tractors and wipe out hunger, now called "food insecurity" by bureaucrats.

Do away with homelessness. Drive inclusion, which lessens oppression. We have only one time to start this important work, the present moment.
